Rashanara Ali caused uproar in Brick Lane Mosque.
Rashanara Ali’s visit to Brick Lane Mosque ended in absolute PR disaster when the 3 thousand strong congregations caused an uproar and demanded her to stand down whilst she was in the middle of her speech.
The cause of the mayhem was due to the timing of her speech which politicians usually schedule for immediately after the Friday prayer and not before. This allows worshippers who are not interested in politics or are supporters of other political parties to leave the hall.
Rasnanara Ali had to be pulled of the stage as the crowd’s fury became uncontrollable, in an already congested environment tempers reached boiling point.
After prayers, worshippers in Brick Lane Mosque expressed shock and outrage that Ali had almost caused a war to erupt inside the house of God. Hard-core Labour supporters were left dismayed and were having second thoughts about backing their candidate after this incident.
